Wednesday's Wisdom Quote: Our Thinking Affects Our Actions…

Print Post

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.  – Luke 6:45

quote: Thinking affects our actions Motivation speakers will often say, “Surround yourself with motivated and positive people to be inspired by what they are doing.”  It’s true that others do greatly inspire us in so many ways, but we have to be so very careful about taking in worldly philosophies.  Hollywood will put little tidbits of worldly wisdom in their movies and TV shows that are NOT necessarily true. For instance, how many times have you heard, “Just follow your heart, and you’ll do the right thing”?  But God’s Word says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) We REALLY need wisdom from God when we make decisions!  We need to be saying instead, “Just pray and ask God for wisdom and follow His leading and you’ll do the right thing!” Because we’re often faced with these worldly philosophies that affect our thinking (and our thoughts will affect our actions which have consequences), it’s so important that we don’t forget to teach our children these TRUTHS from God’s Word. As Christians, we better get our main source of “inspiration” directly from the Lord by reading His Word DAILY. Our minds are the first place that the generation of good thoughts and bad thoughts takes place — which motivates our actions.  And ALL of our actions do have consequences.

QUOTE:

“Our thinking affects our actions and our actions affect our lives.”

What to Think About:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8
