When We Mess Up, Stumble and Fall…

Print Post
O Give Thank Psalms 118 1

Everyday we have a reason to be thankful to the Lord. It’s not just because we have a roof over our head or shoes on our feet…or a cheesecake sitting on our plate to eat. (I’m always dreaming of cheesecake. lol)  We have a reason to be very thankful because of His ever-enduring mercy!

Because of God’s mercy, I’m not given all the punishment that I deserve for my wrong doings and failures. (Psalms 103:10)

I mess up each day…

Each day I try to walk the Christian life, and I cannot do it well on my own.  God is so good because His mercy is so great.   He remembers that I’m just human…that I’m “dust”.  (Psalms 103:14)

During our revival meeting last night, Pastor Hanks demonstrated a Christian’s walk.  It’s not just a normal stroll down the path.  He demonstrated walking, stumbling, falling and then getting back up.  He would stumble and fall again… and then get back up.   Our daily Christian walk is not perfect.  Sometimes we stumble…sometimes we may even fall really hard.

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.  – Proverbs 24:16

This morning, I was thinking again about Pastor Hanks’ demonstration.  Do you realize that the falls are not nearly as important as the importance of “getting back up”?

What if we were to fall into a mud puddle and just sit there?  Where would that get us? What value would we be for the glory of God sitting in a dirty, little mud puddle?  It’s when we get back up and dust ourselves off and get going again that we move forward.

Each step we take might be wobbly, but it’s the walking not the falling that allows us to be used of God.

Don’t fail to understand God’s mercy.  He knows we’re not perfect.  He knows that we will stumble and fall sometimes.  God is so good!  Give Him thanks today for His mercy!

Did you falter yesterday?  Today?  Get back up; thank God for His mercy and move another step forward.  Don’t forget to get plenty of nourishment from God’s Word as you walk your daily path.  God’s Word is your strength and defense against the Enemy who wants you and I to stumble.

We are conquerors through God who loves us!! (Romans 8:37)

God bless you and your family today… and remember today’s Bible memory verse:

O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: because His mercy endureth for ever.  – Psalms 118:1
