    Lord, I messed up again!

All Bible verses are from the King James Version. “O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.” – Psalm 69:6 KJV As I was reading Psalm 69 last week, I was relating to David’s own confession with my own personal history of mess-ups in life. It may be surprising, but God said that David was a man after His own heart. ( First Samuel 13:14) (Acts 13:22) As we know from our Bible history, David was not a perfect man. He committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed in an attempt to cover his sin. God knew that David would not be…

I’m Narrow Minded — Why I Like the Word, “ONLY”

LISTEN on my new podcast page. herChristianhome Devotionals (Audio) All Bible verses in this devotional are referenced from the (KJV) King James Bible. The word, ONLY, makes a distinctive difference in a sentence. The dictionary defines ONLY as: “No one or nothing more besides; solely or exclusively.” The word, “ONLY,” insinuates a limitation, which can imply a good or bad situation. If I say that I “only” have to work three hours today instead of eight, that implies a positive outlook. But, if I say that I “only” have three dollars left, yet I need eight to purchase my meal, that implies a negative limitation. When I say that the…

We Can’t Forget That We’re the Branches

This devotional uses Bible Verses from the (KJV) King James Version John 15:5 says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Here’s a snappy biology lesson on the stem or vine of a plant. It has four main functions: Supports leaves, flowers, and fruit Transports necessary water from the roots to the upper plant area Stores nutrients Produces new living tissue. The Biblical truth I want to impart to you today is that we NEED our Heavenly Father’s help. Our total dependency should rely solely upon Him. I…

    Rejoice, Rejoice… You CAN Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4 says,  “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” I know I’ve already used this verse not too long ago…but I couldn’t help but feel that it was appropriate for me to use it again today.  After all, the emphasis in this verse is to REJOICE again and again — and always. 🙂  And that means it’s perfect for everyday use. To truly REJOICE daily, even when you’re facing trials, I believe you have to increase your faith in our Heavenly Father.  This means that you and I need to keep trusting Him even though circumstances might be a little bleak. REJOICING allows us to REST…

    There’s Sufficient Grace for You

Note: All Bible verses in this devotional are from the King James Version. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2nd Corinthians 12:9) In July 1651, in the company of Dr. John Clarke and Mr. Crandall, Obadiah Holmes made a visit to William Witter, a Baptist, who resided at Lynn, Massachusetts about twelve miles from Boston. The day after their arrival being the Sabbath, they arranged to have a religious service at the house of their host. In the…
