Are you between a rock and a hard place? Here's how to improve your attitude

Print Post
This week I’m trying to encourage myself with this thought… In “every mess” give thanks! 😉 Last Thursday, I was tidying up in my kitchen and cleaning my sink area as messy-kitchenwell, when all of a sudden a supporting metal pipe (our pipes are pvc, except for one lonely pipe from a wall which connects and supports the kitchen sink pipe under the sink area) burst open and water began to flow out and make it’s way into many unwanted parts, including the basement area as well. (I believe some corroded, rusty, metal pieces fell down in there and lodged, even though we were able to repair the pipes back together just fine…a persistent clog has remained.) For the last few days I’ve been using paper plates to avoid some extra dirty dishes, but for some odd reason (LOL) there’s still many dishes and pans that must be washed and rinsed in my bathtub area.  I use a dishpan to wash them and then rinse in the bathtub…and I’m certainly trying to be extra careful not to get any food lodged down the drain in there. So far so good on “plan b” for clean up…. but what a mess it is in the kitchen (yes, my little organized kitchen is in disarray)  as we’ve pulled things out from under the sink and tried to set kitchen items far away from the site where we plunge and work away.  *I finally have plumbers lined up to come to our rescue this morning… thank the Lord for plumbers!  Amen!  Praying it won’t cost a fortune. 🙂 The fact is, this little misfortune is not much compared to many mishaps that others are facing and things that we, ourselves, have faced in the past.  But, you know… BIG or SMALL… God is there to help us through it all. And whatever you’re facing and whatever I’m facing, now or in the future, God wants us to give THANKS. It’s God’s will that we do so. We’ve heard [I Thessalonians 5:18] numerous times… but we need to repeat this verse often as a continual reminder that our messes in life could be worse.  There’s always something to THANK God for if we just stop and think about it. Even if we’re ‘between a rock and a hard place’ and we don’t feel like thanking God, let’s just make a habit of doing so anyway. I believe just the action of thanking God for our problems will improve our attitudes.  Let’s be joyful today and give thanks to the Lord for all that He’s done for us! 🙂

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

– I Thessalonians 5:18

God bless your week! RhondaWhiteSig P.S. – Perhaps later today I’ll have to be repeating this verse numerous times after I receive the plumbing bill.  ;)]]>

      Thanks, Crisi!

At last it’s fixed! It ended up costing way more than we wanted (plumbers had to replace a pipe that has actually been causing a slow drainage issue since we’ve been here. But, hopefully, we won’t be having any more issues in the future now that we have a better pipe system in place. So, besides the HUGE bill, there is something to be thankful about after all! 🙂
