New Words Will Be Spoken Today…. How Will You Use Them?

Each day is, in fact, a new gift…it’s another day that the Lord has mercifully let us wake up to see.  With our new day comes new opportunities.  New words will be spoken.  The important question is, will our words be acceptable in the sight of the Lord?  If He were sitting right next to us, would we still say it? Our tongue is such a powerful tool.  We have the ability to encourage others… or the ability to hurt and discourage others.  We have the ability to glorify God with our words…or let Satan use our words as a poisonous weapon.  And just a little poison can be quite…

A Stubborn Stained Has Been Washed Away

Have you ever been frustrated by a stubborn stain that just wouldn’t budge?  I’ve been especially frustrated  when it was a favorite garment of mine that I loved to wear.  Sometimes, I opted to continue wearing it with the stain,  but that stubborn-stained piece became one of those garments that was forbidden to leave the house.  You know, one of those… lounge-around-at-home-in-your-frumpy-clothes piece.  Eventually, that piece gets set aside for donation because it becomes way too  “tattered” and “stained.” I’m so glad that God’s power to wash away sins are not on the same level as my weak skills of washing away stubborn stains.  God’s washing power cleanses away the…

The Greatest Valentine Gift Ever Given

Today, I operated on a little girl. She needed O- blood. We didn’t have any, but her twin brother has O- blood. I explained to him that it was a matter of life and death. He sat quietly for a moment, and then said goodbye to his parents. I didn’t think anything of it until after we took his blood and he asked, “So when will I die?” He thought he was giving his life for hers. Thankfully, they’ll both be fine.  (Story borrowed from 60 Tiny Love Stories to Make You Smile – #7) This sweet, little story reminds me of the Bible verse in John 15:13 which says,…

Necklaces and Rings and All the Pretty Things… Oh How Charming They Seem!

Matthew 6:19-21  Tells us what kind of treasures we should seek which are of true value… 19)  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20)  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21)  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Have you ever won anything and felt like jumping up and down in pure excitement? I once won an armful of pretty, shiny awards for good grades and other minor accomplishments.  These were presented to…

    Don’t Struggle Beneath the Water

Let’s face it.   Life gets REALLY rough sometimes.  It’s during these times when we start to wonder… WHY.  “Why are all these things happening to me?”  We’re human.  Our fleshly nature is weak, and we can quickly begin to sink in fear and worry.  Remember Peter?  (Read the story here: Matthew 14:22-33) He stepped out with confidence onto the water in middle of the sea when Jesus asked him to come to him… But when Peter saw the boisterous winds he became afraid. This fear overtook him and that’s WHEN he began to sink. Peter took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm. Thankfully, Peter quickly called out…
