Day 40 – Break Up Your Fallow Ground: For It Is Time to Seek the Lord

“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” Hosea 10:12 kjv Today is the last day of my 4o Day Prayer Challenge which included focusing more on prayer and blogging about prayer here at HCH.  But, today is not the end of my prayer journey, but rather, the beginning.  I’ve learned a lot by centering my focus on one area of my life that needed more attention. In our busy society, it’s hard to stay focused; we have so much going on in our lives.  Try challenging yourself to…

Day 39 – The Fifty Cent Prayer

Day 39 “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” I Peter 5:7 kjv Today, I thought I’s share a guest blog post that I did for the author, Penny Zeller (http://pennyzeller.wordpress.com), back in March 2011. Penny is a very sweet lady; I enjoy her Facebook posts here: (https://www.facebook.com/pennyzellerbooks) Anyway, it seems like a fitting thing to share as I come toward the end of my 40 day prayer challenge.  It’s about the very beginnings of my prayer life… the first two prayers answered in college. ______________________________ I can still remember the day I was dropped off and abandoned by my parents. Couldn’t they see that I…

Day 38 – God Blesses When We Fear Him and Do Right

Day 38 “And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.” Exodus 1:21 kjv Yay!  Another Sunday is upon us and an opportunity to go to the House of the Lord to worship! In the middle of the night on my trip to the bathroom, I thanked the Lord for my house, and immediately after I did so, Exodus 1:21 came to my mind.  There’s a nice golden nugget to share. It’s clear that God blessed the midwives for doing right! Despite the fact that they were asked to do such evil mischief by the King of Egypt, they feared God and did NOT…

Day 37 – What Does Your Testimony Say to the World?

Day 37 Good  morning!  I’ve just grabbed my coffee and enjoying the quiet peaceful Saturday morning…and want to share with you some tidbits from my morning Bible reading from Daniel Chapter 3.  It’s stuffed full of tiny golden nuggets! Daniel had such a great testimony.  My question is do I have a good testimony before others?  I always feel that there’s room for improvement so I aim to learn as much as possible from our great Bible heroes.  Daniel is a great example for us to learn from… 1.  Daniel had a testimony of an excellent spirit. “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent…

Day 36 – Wisdom is the Principal Thing; Therefore Get Wisdom!

Day 36 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” Proverbs 4:7 kjv This morning I read one of my favorite stories in Daniel Chapter 2.  The King had demanded the wise men to interpret his dream.  This was a huge problem for the so-called “wise men” because the King didn’t tell them what he had dreamed.  They had to figure that one out on their own!  I’m sure they could have construed up a big story for the interpretation “if only” the King would reveal “what” he had dreamed! The Chaldeans, magicians and astrologers were in a big fix!  They could not…
