A request sometimes heard in our home is, “Pass the salt, please.” Is that heard in your home also?
My family likes a lot of flavor in their food and salt is flavorful. Sometimes, however, the salt has been misplaced and cannot be found. We will look and look for the salt because it is not where it should be.
Is the salt sometimes misplaced in our lives and therefore cannot be found?
Following are a few things that salt does. Does your life show a flavor of salt?
1. Salt Preserves. Does your life (the words and actions) preserve life. The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue.
2. Salt flavors or makes food more tasty. The Bible Says that a faithful man shall abound with blessings. Get involved in some way in a ministry. You will find that your life is more flavorful.
3. Salt makes one thirsty. When I eat a lot of salty food, I get thirsty and drink a lot of water. Do our lives cause one to be thirsty for the things of God?
4. Salt produces a greater buoyancy. Bodies of water that contain great amounts of salt enable a person to float much easier. Are we able to float above the problems of life because of the ‘salt’ in our lives.
These are just a few things that salt does. I wonder can God say about us, “Pass the salt, please.”
Mark 9:50,“Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltiness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”
