“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.” ~ Jeremiah 5:25 kjv
SIN is becoming so common place and accepted among Christians that we start to blend in with the rest of the world. They feel that these little sins aren’t that big of a deal if they’re not “murdering” or “stealing” from someone.
Doesn’t it seem like we put our own label on what we think of as “bad” SIN…and then shrug our shoulders at other things that don’t seem quite so “bad?”
The fact is, SIN is — and always will be — still SIN in God’s eyes.
GOD doesn’t change just because the “times” change in our modern society.
“For I am the Lord, I change not…” Malachi 3:6a kjv
What is SIN?
The way that I explain SIN to my Sunday School class is simply this, “Sin is anything that displeases God.”
Did that “tiny, little white lie,” as our society foolishly calls it, displease God?
YES! Let’s acknowledge that our unholiness (big and small) displeases God!
WE, ourselves, do NOT get to decide what is sin and what is not. Those factors come directly from GOD above who created us and who created our earth.
Let’s grow up spiritually!! God’s Word makes it very clear what’s right and what’s wrong.
If we find ourselves questioning, “Is it okay to do such-n-such?” then we’re already having a doubting conscience about the situation. It’s better to avoid it.
We can’t compare ourselves to others and decide “we’re not so bad” after all. By the way, God’s Word says it’s NOT wise to compare ourselves with others! (II Corinthians 10:12)
Why should we avoid letting sin carelessly continue in our lives?
The most important thing to realize is that there is ALWAYS consequences for our SIN.
Secondly, SIN keeps us from obtaining the many blessings from God.
Look at these two Bible verses…
“The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.” ~ Psalms 18:20 kjv
“Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.” ~ Psalms 18:24 kjv
Pray this week and ask the Heavenly Father to search your heart (Psalm 139:23) and help you see the sin in your life that needs to be purged.
Do not miss out on the many blessings that God wants to give to YOU. May God bless your week ahead!
May God bless you and your family,
~ Rhonda White
