Where are the Good Things? What Exactly is Sin?

Print Post

“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.”

~ Jeremiah 5:25

Jeremiah-5-25 My hubby shared Jeremiah 5:25 in our Sunday School class last week and at that moment, I decided that it should be the verse to share this week. Sin is becoming so common place and accepted among Christians.  They feel that sin isn’t that big of a deal if they’re not “murdering” or “stealing” from someone. We put a label on what we think of as “bad” sin…and then shrug our shoulders at other things that don’t seem quite so “bad“. The fact is Sin is SIN in God’s eyes. The way that I explain SIN to my Sunday School kids is simply this, “Sin is anything that displeases God.” The fact is, sin keeps us from obtaining the many blessings of God. Look at these two verses:

“The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.” Psalms 18:20

“Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.” Psalms 18:24

Pray this week and ask the Heavenly Father to search your heart and help you see the sin in your life that needs to be purged.  Let’s not miss out on the many blessings that God wants to share with us. God bless your week ahead! ~ Rhonda White
