What’s In It For Me?

Print Post

Colossians 3:23 (kjv) says…

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Colossians 3:23 KJV
Do it heartily!

This Bible verse is self explanatory. We’re to do things heartily, that is, putting our whole heart into whatever task that God has given us to do.

A sink full of dishes today? Scrub away with full force! Do a thorough job! Half wiping off the gunk with a sluggish rinse isn’t doing it whole-heartily.

Perhaps we could find more enthusiasm doing a dreadful chore WHEN we decide to do it FOR the LORD and not just for man.

Looking at Colossians 3:23 a little deeper…

We sometimes end up with the wrong motive for doing the things that we do.

Are there projects that we end up doing to be “people pleasers” or perhaps we’re in it to get something back for ourselves? Or, maybe we just want to look like a “good Christian?”

What’s in it for me?

It’s seems like our modern society is all about “me, me, me” and IF I’m going to do it, “what’s in it for me?” If this is the basis of our motive, we’re certainly NOT doing it “as to the LORD.”

However, there IS SOME GOOD NEWS…

There IS something in it for you and me when we DO things for the LORD!

The following verse, Colossians 3:24 (kjv) says…

“Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

We may not see the purpose or immediate results of all our projects and tasks we do for the LORD right now, but we can be assured of receiving heavenly rewards for our service!

Today, let me ENCOURAGE YOU to keep going!

Galatians 6:9 (kjv) says…

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Don’t give up! If you’re overwhelmed with all that’s on your plate today, ENCOURAGE yourself in the LORD with those heavenly rewards.

Consider EVERYTHING you do as a part of pleasing the LORD and doing it for HIM! Our attitude will change our outcome for the day ahead!

May God bless you and your family,

Rhonda White
