    Don’t Struggle Beneath the Water

Let’s face it.   Life gets REALLY rough sometimes.  It’s during these times when we start to wonder… WHY.  “Why are all these things happening to me?”  We’re human.  Our fleshly nature is weak, and we can quickly begin to sink in fear and worry.  Remember Peter?  (Read the story here: Matthew 14:22-33) He stepped out with confidence onto the water in middle of the sea when Jesus asked him to come to him… But when Peter saw the boisterous winds he became afraid. This fear overtook him and that’s WHEN he began to sink. Peter took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm. Thankfully, Peter quickly called out…

Happy New Year: A New Beginning

Guest post by Kathy McCullough, Pastor’s Wife, Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church, Arkansas City, Kansas Happy New Year Let me be one of the first to say it, “HAPPY NEW YEAR,”  since it is already 2016 or it will be here VERY soon.  I don’t know about you, but I did LOVE 2015! A Flickering Light

Guest post by Brenda Booth Missionary Wife, Iglesia Bautista La Victoria, San Miguelito, Panama A Flickering Light Christmas is coming, and it is one of my favorite times of the year! The bright color of the decorations, the children’s excitement, the Christmas music with its Gospel message in hymns and songs, and the preaching and teaching about the birth of my Savior is just close home and precious! In Matthew 2:9 the Word of God says, “When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.” That star…

You Might Be Doing It All Wrong

I know at this time of year we’re all focused on “thankfulness.”  That is the popular topic right now on social media and blogs, etc.  Today, I want to dig a little deeper on what’s going on underneath. As Christians, we aim to be kind and do things to help others… but did you know we can be doing and saying all the right things and still be doing it all wrong? Our real motives can get quite messy… Other people see your deeds… God sees you motives. Some examples of wrong motives: Doing things to be seen by others; we hope to receive a pat on the back. [Matthew…
