Come Boldly

Print Post

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 KJV

I’ve been pondering about the word “boldness” since reading Hebrews 4:16 last week during my morning devotions…

The dictionary defines boldness as “fearless and daring; courageous.”

I can tell you that boldness is not within my nature. It’s not one of my positive qualities.

In my youth, I was so shy that I could barely look others in the eye. It was a struggle to make new friends in high school.

Once I made a friend, though, I thoroughly enjoyed the friendship. I could be bold in my silliness and in sharing my thoughts. I think building a trustworthy relationship increased my boldness and confidence.

As we build a good relationship with our Heavenly Father, I believe we also grow in our boldness and confidence in our communication with Him.

God speaks to us through His Word (The Holy Bible) and we speak back to Him through our prayer time.

God wants us to be able to come boldly to Him in prayer.

Ephesians 3:12 says, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”

God’s Word encourages us to come boldly in faith when we pray.

But, boldness is difficult for some.

We’ve all seen a little child hiding from their mommy or daddy because he /she knows they’ve done wrong. They lack that confidence in facing their parent because of their wrongdoing.

And many of us have seen those funny dog videos, where the dog is hiding his face in shame because of his misdeeds. Doesn’t it make you giggle because we can so relate with that puppy dog?!

Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

We have a good reason in striving to live a righteous (right doing) life that pleases God. I want the ability to run to God with confidence and boldness when I know I need His help.

I also want to build a relationship that isn’t stagnant. I don’t want to feel like I’ve lost contact and barely know my Heavenly Father.

God wants to hear from you and me. Let’s run boldly to our Heavenly Father.

I want to end with this encouraging Bible verse today…

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” – Philippians 4:6 KJV

God doesn’t want us to be anxious and worrisome. He wants you and me to take EVERY single thing to him in prayer with earnestness.  Let’s go!

Keep walking in faith,

Rhonda White

One of my favorite. I have a small booklet by my bedside that’s titled.. come boldly …etc. I reread it often. Lifts me up with a swelling within at what God has given us…the ability to access his attention any time we choose.
