This is the day which the Lord hath made - Psalms 118 - 24

It seems that in today’s society, we have a lot of whiners and complainers. As a child of God, you and I must realize that this displeases the Lord.  (Numbers 11:1)  When you pinpoint the root of the problem, it’s all about “self.”

The GOOD NEWS is that we can work on improving our attitude and our outlook on our daily situations.

Get a better PERSPECTIVE on your day ahead by following the 10 tips below.

Here’s 10 ways to have a positive attitude about your day…

1. Start your day off with thanksgiving and praise.

Starting your day off with a grateful heart will set a right attitude.  Take time to be thankful!

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”  – Psalms 100:4

2. Be content with what you have.

Focusing on what you don’t have or what you wish you had will never bring about a good attitude.

“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”  – Philippians 4:11

3. Prefer others above yourself.

Focusing on helping others will take the focus off yourself.  You’ll have a better attitude as well!

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”  – Romans 12:10

4. Give to others.

Giving brings about a good feeling…but it’s also pleasing to our Heavenly Father.  This will certainly help you to have a better attitude.

“I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35

5. Follow Christ’s example to serve others.

Serving others will again take the focus off of yourself…and it brings about some humility which will help you have a better attitude.

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. ” – Mark 10:45

6. Change your thoughts.

Negative thoughts bring about bad attitudes.  When you think on the things that God’s Word tells you to think about, you won’t be able to help but have a much better attitude.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”  – Philippians 4:8

7. Remember often, it’s not all about you!

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in ourselves…our wants and our needs and our situations.  Take time to humble yourself and encourage others. What are their needs?  What does the situation look like from their perspective?

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”  – Ephesians 4:2

8. Don’t worry about tomorrow.

Worrying messes up our positive attitudes.  When we worry, we often start to grumble or complain. Trust God.  Increase your faith through reading of His Word daily and you will have a better attitude!

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Matthew 6:34

9. Be positive… “I can do all things through Christ.”

Sometimes we get really hard on ourselves.  We become fretful or downcast about our circumstances.  Remember God is for us…if we’re following His will, He will help us each step of the way!

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”  – Philippians 4:13

10.  Realize each day is a true gift from God.

Understand that God has mercifully allowed you see another day.  He’s not finished with you yet!  It’s up to YOU to use and make the most of this day.  Don’t waste it away with a poor attitude which will profit you nothing.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”  Psalms 118:24

God bless you and your family,

Truly love the beauty of your post. I so agree it all starts at the beginning with the attitude that is present, it then goes to the challenge of your surrounding and being able to humble your self. Ending the day with peace and thanksgiving is a great way to end on a good note

Thank you, Angie, for sharing your comment. That reminds me of the verse about not letting the sun go down upon your wrath. Our Heavenly Father wants us to have things settled and sleep peacefully at the end of our day. 🙂
