They say money talks. In other words, it has a huge persuasive influence, which often stems from the greed for more of it. Vanity and pride in showing off one’s wealth is just one erroneous use of money. Money is also frequently used as a tool for bribery.
I believe it’s falsely said that everyone has a “price” and can be bought. Christian men and women of real character and integrity will NOT let money have an evil influence.
The way to obtain a healthy view on money is to gather God’s perspective on what He says about it.
Below is 10 important Bible verses on money and wealth.
(This is by no means a complete study on money; I’ve simply chosen these 10 Bible verses to share with you today.)
1. Tithing is top priority. The Bible says we rob God when we do not tithe.
“Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.”
Proverbs 3:9 kjv

2. There are greater things of value than silver and gold.
“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!”

3. Our testimony is more important than wealth.

5. When we invest our heart and labor into godly things above, we build heavenly treasures that cannot be deteriorated or ever taken away from us.
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

6. We have a choice to make concerning what will be our main focus in life…money or God? We cannot whole-heartily strive for both at the same time.
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Matthew 6:24 kjv
(Mammon signifies money and riches.) There is nothing wrong with having wealth if God blesses you with such things. The issue is where we will put our main focus and energies.

8. We are to be cheerful givers and strive to have the right motive for giving.
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

9. Evil is established through the love for money.

Money itself is a necessity in life. It is not bad. But, loving money brings about evil. We will be bought for a price, losing our integrity. We will manipulate and commit unrighteous acts for more wealth when we love money. We will chose money over precious time with our family and friends when it becomes our first priority.

To quickly sum up today’s topic, money can be a useful tool when used in the right perspective, using God’s biblical principles. However, it’s easy to get off balance, so review these biblical principles frequently to evaluate your balance on using money. With a steadfast, dependency upon God, you can know that He will supply all your vital needs.
