5 Bible Verses That Will Boost Your Confidence

Print Post

Building confidence in yourself is very much encouraged by the world. “You can achieve anything you want if you just believe in yourself,” they say.

Grievously, I have to warn you that there is a danger and pitfall in teaching our young people to put all their confidence in themselves.

SELF-CONFIDENCE, according to the dictionary, means “a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities, and judgment.”

Many young people and adults instill so much confidence in themselves, that they start to feel indestructible, relying on no one but themselves. Later, this can bring a life of misery and stress when we carry all the load ourselves.

I have to admit that I’ve personally struggled with the lack of self-confidence. Having a low self-esteem (confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect) is somewhat linked to having low self-confidence , which leads to an undesirable quality in ourselves.

Over the years, I’ve grown more confident and bold, but still struggle with feelings of inadequacy. This shows that I still have some spiritual growth to work on, as well as few other things in my life.

It might seem surprisingly contradictory to now tell you…

I’m ALL for BOOSTING CONFIDENCE!

The definition of the word CONFIDENCE is “the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.”

As Christians, YOU and I need to glean and grow our RELIANCE on the Lord God, and gain CONFIDENCE through Him!

Your own confidence will grow, the more you put your trust in the Lord. Your own self-worth will be recognized when you understand that God created YOU — loves YOU — and sees YOUR value. (So much so that He gave His only begotten Son to die on the cross for your sins, so that you could have eternal life in Heaven some day! – John 3:16)

Here’s 5 Bible Verses that Will Boost Your Confidence in our Heavenly Father! (And YOU are the one, who will then benefit in your own confidence!!)

1. You can always rely on God more than anyone else.

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

Psalm 118:8 kjv

You can be bold in your actions, when you put your trust in the Lord. If you’ve prayed about a certain situation, and you are following all biblical principles, you can move forward with CONFIDENCE!

*Question: What is one area in your life in which you need to rely more on God?

2. You can trust in God’s protective measures.

“For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.”

Proverbs 3:26 kjv

Fear often keeps us from having CONFIDENCE to take action. You can trust the Lord to do a work in your life, even when you are stepping out of your comfort zone.

*Question: What is one fear in your life that you are working on to yield into God’s hands?

3. You can have strong confidence when you fear the Lord.

“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.”

Proverbs 14:26 kjv

One fear that is desirable in a Christian’s life is the fear of the Lord. God’s Word says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10)

You will make better choices when you have the fear of the LORD. The fear of the Lord means you reverence Him as you should, and it also mean you understand the consequences of sin, when you make bad choices…

You can have strong CONFIDENCE in the Lord when you are walking in His favor (living a godly life).

*Question: What does Proverbs 8:13 also say that the fear of the Lord is? *Resource: https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Fear-Of-The-Lord/

4. You can be confident and bold because you have access to the Heavenly Father!

“In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”

Ephesians 3:12 kjv

Remember those old fights… “my daddy’s bigger than yours”? Who you have on your side is a huge boost of CONFIDENCE!

What a boost of CONFIDENCE in your life and mine that we can have the Lord on our side! As a child of God, you have direct access to Him! God is bigger than any problem you may face!

*Question: What problem are you facing today? Is your faith BIG enough to trust God in helping you overcome this problem? (If not, read more of God’s Word daily! Romans 10:17)

5. You can be confident that God will hear your prayers.

” And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”

I John 5:15 kjv

Remember this, when we live in sin, we often hide from the Lord…

Think about it, do little children have confidence in approaching their mother or father when they’ve done wrong? They have a tendency to hide, don’t they?

I’ve even seen plenty of funny videos where pets will hide from their owners (or bestow a guilty face) because they know they’ve done wrong.

It’s in our nature to hide…even Adam and Eve hid after committing their first sin!

So, when you’re walking in the fear of the Lord (as I mentioned earlier), you can approach God with boldness and CONFIDENCE through faith that He will hear your prayers.

If you’ve been off the path because of sin in your life, know this, that the Lord is merciful and gracious. Ask God to forgive you and restore your relationship with Him today.

You will gain CONFIDENCE through a closer relationship with the Lord! (We speak to God through prayer and He speaks to us through His Word.)

David set a perfect example of humility when he uttered…

“I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.”

Psalm 32:5 kjv

*Question: Is there something in my life that I need to confess and ask forgiveness, so that I can have a closer relationship to God?

May God bless you and your family,

Rhonda White
