Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ~ Proverbs 18:21
Every day we have an opportunity to use a powerful tool…
That power tool is in our own mouth…. our very own tongue.
It’s actually a small member of our body, but has such great power to build or destroy.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! ~ James 3:5
I want to use my words to encourage others. I don’t want to be a gossip or use hurtful words to harm others.
We don’t know everything that’s going on in other people’s lives. Almost everyone is dealing with trials and frustrations. Everyone could use a friendly smile today… a friendly word of encouragement.
Work to build others up and not put them down. We’re so quick to speak before we think at times, but we just need to ask the Lord to use our words today for HIS glory.
Yield that little member to the Holy Spirit. God can use your words mightily if you let the Holy Spirit lead you. You can make a difference in someone’s life today by offering them encouraging words!
Here’s a poem I wanted to share: Please read it when you have time!!
Drop a Pebble in the Water
Drop a pebble in the water —
Just a splash and it’s gone,
But there’s half a hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on.
Spreading, spreading from the center
Flowing on out to the sea,
And there is no way of telling
Where the end is going to be.
Drop a pebble in the water
In a minute you forget,
But there’s little waves a flowing
And there’s ripples circling yet.
And those little waves a flowing
To a great big wave have grown,
You’ve disturbed a mighty river
Just by dropping in a stone.
Drop an unkind word — or careless
In a minute you forget,
But there’s little waves a flowing
And there’s ripples circling yet.
And perhaps in some sad heart
A might wave of tears you’ve stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy
Ere you dropped that unkind word.
Drop a word of cheer, and kindness
Just a flash and it is gone,
but there’s half a hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on.
Bearing hope and joy and comfort
On each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn’t believe the volume
Of the one kind word you gave.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness
In a minute you forget,
But there’s gladness still a swelling,
And there’s joy a circling yet.
And you’ve rolled a wave of comfort
whose sweet music can be heard,
Over miles and miles of water,
Just by dropping one kind word.
