God’s Vitamin “C” for the Spirit – Book Blessings Book Review

Print Post

I’ve decided to re-title my monthly book features as “Book Blessings” because what I love to share with you are books that’s been a blessing to me and my family.

Today, I’m sharing a story from the book, God’s Vitamin “C” for the Spirit — Tug-at-the-heart” stories to fortify and enrich your life (my referral link). The stories in this book are compiled by Kathy Collard Miller and D. Larry Miller.

*Side note disclaimer: I picked this book up at a local thrift store, and I’m currently at page 90, so I haven’t completed reading it all yet. Also, the book states that most of the verses are in KJV, but not ALL of them are.

The story I’m sharing with you today is about Tyler Lee Roark and written by Mary Nelson. (pp. 62,63)

This is a short, yet heart-wrenching story about a baby named Tyler, who was diagnosed with a horrific disease called Hoffman-Werding disease. Doctors told parents that Tyler would probably never walk, sit up, nor probably live past the age of two.

Tyler’s parents decided to have a prayer meeting at their home on behalf of Tyler. I LOVE that Tyler’s parents decided that God loved Tyler more than they did, so they decided whether God’s answer regarding Tyler’s healing was ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ they were going to accept that answer. (What a great attitude they had toward God!)

The next day, Tyler had another appointment with a specialist.  The doctor couldn’t explain it, but Tyler’s body was now that of a perfectly, normal eight-month old baby.

What’s even greater is that Tyler has an athletic gift to run and has won several trophies. His first national title came at only 10 years old. At the time of the writing of this book (1996), Tyler had gained much media attention on TV and newspapers.

Whether Tyler wins or loses, he knows his purpose is to give glory to God…and tries to show others Christ through him.

This miraculous story was an encouragement to me.  God still works miracles today, just as He did in Bible times. Let’s keep looking up to God — trusting Him and remaining faithful to walk in truth. And just like Tyler — let others see Christ through us.
