I Shall Not Be Moved — Are You Planted Deeply in Your Christian Faith?

Print Post
I shall not be moved #devotional The first chapter of Psalms tells us of one who is strong, well-rooted, grounded, productive, prosperous… not easily moved in their Christian faith.

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”  – Psalm 1:3 KJV

ALL needs are met for this well-planted tree…the nourishment of sun and a continual supply of water for the roots.  Because the roots are healthy, the tree is able to be firmly and deeply planted.

Think today about your own spiritual life… Are you planted deeply with a good foundation?

Without healthy, deep roots a tree would wither away in weakness…perhaps tumble over from its weight, as the stormy winds would surely get the best of it.

Don’t neglect your daily watering and feeding from the Word of God…

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” – Psalm 1:2 KJV

Psalm 1:2 precedes our verse about the tree that’s well-planted. Our own spiritual foundation needs to be planted firmly and deeply in God’s Word. Without doing so, Satan has the chance to easily topple us over when trials become heavy to bear.

Our continual nourishment and strength will come from our Heavenly Father when we delight ourselves in His Word.  When we truly delight in God’s Word, we’ll be meditating on it frequently throughout our day.  Well-supplied spiritual roots are able to grow!

Be fruitful… (not like a tree that just squanders away space and fails to produce any fruit). Bear fruit by spreading the gospel to those that need to hear it. Many use the excuse that they cannot share the gospel because they don’t have the “gift to gab” as we term it.  But remember, our job it to simply share God’s Word (the plan of salvation); it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to work in the heart of the one who hears it. After the seed is planted, the Holy Spirit can do His work.

Stay faithful. .. Plant your feet in God’s House every time the doors are open…. be faithful to HEAR His Word!  Be faithful to READ His Word.

When we faithfully do all these things, we can be like the healthy, well-planted tree that cannot be moved.

Here’s FIVE Bible Verses about “Not Being Moved”:

(From reading the Bible verses below, we once again see the purpose and benefit of trusting the Lord and keeping His Word always before us.)

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
– Psalm 16:8 KJV

For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
– Psalm 21:7 KJV

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
– Psalm 55:22 KJV

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
– Psalms 62:2 KJV

They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
– Psalm 125:1 KJV

I shall not be moved - Psalm 16:8 KJV

I shall not be moved song

SONG:

I Shall Not Be Moved

Jesus is my Savior, I shall not be moved;
In His love and favor, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

In my Christ abiding, I shall not be moved;
In His love I’m hiding, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

If I trust Him ever, I shall not be moved;
He will fail me never, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

On His word I’m feeding, I shall not be moved;
He’s the One that’s leading, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

Chorus

I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

      Charlotte, I really love this song as well and used to sing it a LOT when I was a kid. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment. I love hearing from my readers.

    Such an encouraging writing we need to constantly stay rooted in the Lord, so much going on around us and many times i find myself running my own show and forget to seek the Lord’s guidance but the scriptures you have put together reminded me that everything starts and ends with where i am rooted.

      Thank so much for sharing your comment. We all have that tendency to “run our own show”at times. I need God’s daily Word as a reminder of how Great He is, able to handle it all, and how much He loves me!

    I love the promise that our Lord give us in the Psalms. That we as believers will not be moved in our faith, as long as we abide in Him. He also encourages us that we also wil not be moved when sudden calamities occur. We we continually look to Him, and see the problem for His viewpoint and wait with quietness and His peace until it passes.
