Our View Versus God’s View

Print Post

Monday morning, as my hubby and I were traveling, the weather was grey, wet and drizzly. It wasn’t the picture-perfect-sunshiny kind of day.

The gloom weighed upon us while driving, and yet, there was a sliver of peace resting in the atmosphere.

I looked far ahead to view the horizon. There in the long distant, you could see the sun shining radiantly. There was a town or city, numerous miles ahead, that was enjoying a bright, gleeful day.

This reminded me of life’s trials — our view versus God’s view. Although we may look at the gloomy present surrounding us, God clearly sees what’s ahead to give us an expected, victorious end.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

God has done marvelous things in our life, even though we might not recognize all the times He’s intervened on our behalf. Oh, the little blessings we miss along the way because we spend too much time looking at the gloomy, shadowy clouds around us!

Despite David’s constant conflict, he learned to sing praises to God. He recognized that God had done marvelous things. Even during a time of calamity!

O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.” – Psalm 98:1 kjv

Yesterday is past. It’s an old song now. Today is a new day…we can sing a new song! It’s a new opportunity to sing praises to God and serve Him! New blessings are in store for us if we keep pressing onward!

When we look up and keep our eyes on God, we remember Who is there with us always — each day — to be our Helper. We are not alone!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1,2

Remember, don’t be narrow-sighted, gazing only on the present view surrounding you. Look up; look far ahead! After each valley is a beautiful mountain! With each trial, there is a victorious end ahead!

May God bless you and your family,

Rhonda White

I painted these hills on my tablet, after I came home from my trip. There were so many pretty ones!

What a very needed devotional for me today. I am helping my father who has Alzheimer’s. He is beginning to have seizures and to realize the end is needing it is hard to look ahead to the ray of sun peeking through the clouds.
Thank you Rhonda for the reminder.

Becky, I’m so sorry to hear of the trial you are going through with your father. It has to be a very hurtful and trying time for you, your father and family. My mother just went through that in care of my great uncle, who had dementia. She is still working on recovering mentally, emotionally and physically herself. I do know the Lord has been graciously good and merciful through it all. Keep looking up! ((Love, hugs n prayers))
